Coming home to yourself is a daily practice that can feel impossible when life gets in the way. Maybe you are overwhelmed, not yet where you want to be, or stuck in old patterns.
I work with the mind-body connection and it’s capacity towards wellbeing, focusing on clearing the weight of the past and establishing new pathways forward to living your most authentic life.
As symptoms speak to your spirit, we will explore your dreams, conflicts, and wounds that ask for healing. Let's build a therapeutic relationship that supports your return back home.
Hi, I'm Amelia.
I am a licensed holistic,
somatic trauma therapist
in California
Clients describe me as both empathetic and authentic
I am dedicated to meeting you where you are at. This means to me that I am without agenda - sometimes we celebrate your achievements, no matter how small, while others are for being in the trenches with you.
I am direct about working through the impact that trauma and systems of power have, always sensitive to and validating of your experience.
Clients come to me looking for a down-to-earth therapist that can compassionately hold a mirror up to blindspots and areas for growth. My intention is to guide you back to your own inner wisdom and trust your ability to navigate all the ups and downs of life.
Therapy isn't about what's wrong with you.
It's about restoring your ability to feel
what's been right with you all along.
My Approach
My Guiding Principles
Mindfulness
In practicing mindful awareness, we can notice what's happening in the present moment without judgement. From this place, we create habits that help us live in alignment with our deepest values.
Self-Compassion
A powerful tool for resilience, self-compassion is a skill that entails practicing kindness to ourselves when times get difficult, anchoring into a sense of warmth and care that motivates lasting change.
Interconnection
We are all both works in progress and masterpieces simultaneously. When we can extend this awareness of our shared humanity to ourselves and others, our worlds naturally transform.
My Practice At A Glance
-
Where do you offer sessions?I offer sessions in person in Valencia, CA, about 30 minutes outside Los Angeles, and virtually throughout California. For KAP sessions, I am able to see clients either in Valencia, Santa Monica, CA.
-
What is your session fee?My fee for sessions are $250 per hour. I do offer some sliding scale spots on a regular basis, please inquire! Additionally, please feel free check out https://openpathcollective.org for a sliding scale directory of therapists ranging from $30-$60 per session for individuals.
-
How often and for how long do you see clients? In most cases, for new clients I recommend weekly sessions as we are building our therapeutic relationship, discussing history, goals, building a treatment plan, etc. Sessions are 50 minutes, with an occasional EMDR session extending to 90 minutes to give us more time for processing. For EMDR, clients can make lasting progress in as little as 10 sessions. Most of my clients stay with me anywhere from 6 months to a year, sometimes longer depending upon whether or not they have met agreed upon goals, or if they simply want continued support.
-
What can I expect?During the first few sessions we will discuss the reasons or concerns that bring you to therapy and establish goals that you would like to work on during our time together. In our sessions, you will be invited to experientially explore belief systems, emotions, associated experiences and behaviors that might be holding you back. As we collaborate to support you in reaching your stated objectives, please know that sometimes when it comes to healing, things can get worse before they get better. I work to integrate mindfulness and body-based grounding practices so that clients can leave with coping skills that can help them in and outside of therapy.
-
Do you accept insurance?I am in-network with Aetna insurance plans in California. For all other plans, I am considered out-of-network. For clients who have PPO or insurance with out-of-network benefits, I am happy to provide super bills for partial reimbursement of session costs once a deductible has been met.
A MIND-BODY-SPIRIT PRACTICE
How It Started
My practice name symbolizes what I aim to inspire. .
A nourishing landing place for folks to experientially explore their sense of rootedness, or belonging in life, as well as a sense of ease and trust in the unfolding of their unique timeline- whatever that means for them.
What led you to becoming a holistic therapist?
As a child from a small town navigating complex family dynamics, I was determined to find answers for questions that no one around me was asking. What else exists outside of my little world, outside of these systems? I began exploring yoga and eastern wisdom traditions in my teens, and developed an interest in non-ordinary states of consciousness as a means for healing. The rest is history.
What inspires you?
Some intersection of dance, prayer, yoga, meditation. I have to say I feel most inspired when I am engaged in some type of practice that nourishes my awareness of being connected to something greater than myself.
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
